Button Bracelet

Pinterest is a wonderful thing, if it weren't so easy to use. i steal some of my best ideas from there for clothing, hair, art, decorations and food. however, i also spend literally hours there scrolling through pics and pinning new things. luckily, i was able to get away to actually make something the other day, and here it is: a button bracelet.

again, very simple. it is one piece of twine folded in half. i took each end through 2 holes in each button and made a loop at the end to fasten.

i love these colors, i think it can go pretty well with most of my outfits. anyone who knows me knows that i have  thing for mustard (the color, not the condiment).

Table to Bench

my friend gave us some new end tables and a coffee table because she was moving. so that means i get to get rid of old stuff. which means i got to make a bench from my old coffee table!

first, took it all apart. i spray painted the bottom white. the paint reacted weirdly with whatever the table is made of, but it kind of looked cool.

then i sanded the edges for a worn vintage look.

i covered the top in foam and gray fabric (both on sale at Hobby Lobby).

i put the top back on and ta-da! new bench. and yes, it is cat approved.

Frames Display

i felt like re-doing some of the art in my house today. so i used these old frames i got from my dad. together with some simple scrapbook paper, i made a gorgeous 3D wall mural in the bedroom.

First, i laid out the frames and paper unattached so i'd have some wiggle room for re-ordering.

Next i attached the paper to the back of the frames with a staple gun.

to hang the frames, i used picture hanging wire and staples, until i ran out of wire. then i just used the staples. if you let them hang out a little from the wood, you can use that overhang as a makeshift picture hanger.

last, i hung them on the wall! -dur- i started with the bottom left and worked my way across then up to assure that each one was placed at the right distance. now i can just enjoy it and be very satisfied with myself. and of course, Zoot has to photobomb. i disturbed him from his sleeping basket with my pictures. :/

Some Wedding Decor

we visited my parents house last week and explored their old barn. there was a nook in the ceiling so we climbed up into it. i was of course hoping there was some amazing old cool stuff up there but what i saw was something i could never have expected. 50+ of these:

brown and clear gallon glass jugs. they say something like "antimicrobial for food processing" and the barn used to be a slaughterhouse, so that makes sense. so hello to a few new rustic wedding decorations. also, here is a big bundle of wedding decorations, as a teaser to the wonder that is to come. only three more weeks!

the cake stand was made by my dad. it weighs a ton. but it's beautiful. :)

the teapot cake was made by my BM Jessica who is also making my wedding cake. they did such a wonderful job!

Floral Headband

The frame was 3 for $1 at Dollar Tree, ribbon was $2 at Michaels, flowers and feathers were, uh, free, because i plucked them off of Michaels flowers because i only needed 3 and didn't want to pay $5 for a fake flower bouquet, and it is held together with hot glue.
total price of headband: $3!

Wedding Dress Belt

so i finally got my wedding dress from online. love the dress, hate the cover up and belt. the cover up looked nice online, but in champagne it looks extra 1970s and hideous. the belt is too blingy and destroys everything it touches because the prongs holding in the gems are too loose.

so i made my own belt! using the materials from above, this belt ultimately cost only $30, way better than the $80 etsy belt i liked. and i love this one more. the colors of the ribbons and flowers are custom picked to fit my champagne dress, and the ribbons look deliciously vintage.

it is made from tulle, lace ribbon, satin flowers, and synthetic feathers. i found a belt making kit in my sewing tote (that thing has to be from the 1930s, i have materials in there that cost 2 cents. note to self, my keyboard has no 'cents' symbol.).
